(Beijing) – An animal rights group has asked the government to block a company that extracts bile from bears for use in traditional Chinese medicine from listing on a stock market, arguing that "a civilized society cannot tolerate animal abuse."

Beijing Loving Animal Foundation held a press conference on December 24 to say that Fujian Guizhentang Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. should not be allowed to follow through on its hopes of listing.
