Elon Musk’s surprise trip to China has led some industry analysts to speculate that the visit will lay the groundwork for the launch of the U.S. automaker’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in the country.

The Tesla Inc. boss met on Sunday with Premier Li Qiang, who helped the company set up its Shanghai plant when he was the city’s Communist Party secretary. Some analysts said that the two might discuss the rollout of FSD in the world’s largest auto market, as the government has already signaled its support for commercializing autonomous vehicles.
