Cancer Rates Rose Most Among Younger Chinese Adults in Recent Decades, Study Says
Chinese people aged 15 to 49 had the largest increase in cancer incidence among the whole population from 2000 to 2019, according to a study released by China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), which suggests the burden of cancer is growing heavier on younger adults.
In 2019, the incidence rate of cancer in the 15 to 49 age group increased 36.72% compared to that of 2000, as stated in the study recently published in China CDC Weekly, a national public health bulletin. The incidence also rose 13.82% and 22.56% in the 50 to 69, and 70 and over age groups, over the same period, the study found.
