What’s new: UBS Group AG has appointed Janice Hu, vice chair of its securities venture in China, to succeed Eugene Qian as the new head of its China operations.
Hu, who joined UBS following its takeover of Credit Suisse, will assume her new role on Sept. 16. Currently serving as vice chair of UBS Securities and chair of global banking for China, she will lead UBS’s strategic initiatives and business growth in the country, the bank said.

Due to UBS's acquisition of Credit Suisse, it had to sell its majority stake in the China venture to a Beijing-backed fund to comply with Chinese regulations preventing majority foreign ownership in multiple domestic brokerages.
